Tories: If Cameron won't back Britain, sack him

The newspapers are full of reports today on how David Cameron is refusing to promise a referendum on Europe here in Britain if the Lisbon Treaty is in force when and if the Conservatives win power.

So, it's quite simple, really.

The overwhelming majority of the grassroots support for the Conservatives wants and demands a referendum.

It's time that they had a quiet word with Cameron and told him quite clearly - either he gives in and announces the referendum will happen...

...else he'll be toppled as party leader.

While Cameron is charismatic and fairly well liked, if he will not bow to the pressure of over 80% of his own party and - according to most polls - 60% to 70% of British public opinion...

...then the Tories can get rid of him.

Let's face it, it's all starting to look like more of the TweedleDee-TweedleDum illusion of democracy, Lab-Con merry-go-round. All contrived as a cosy Brussels stitch up.

So, patriotic Tories. Give Cameron an ultimatum. Give him a fortnight to come out with a firm pledge on a referendum, no matter what. And if he doesn't, tell him you'll oust him.

After all, is it proud patriotism and Britain's interests you want to represent?

Or a taste of power - even the power of Brussels - that you must satisfy... with no principle important enough to sacrifice?

P.S. 'Bloggers backing Boris for Britain' has such a ring, huh?

P.P.S. If we didn't need a referendum to sign up to Lisbon, why do we need a referendum to tell them to naff off exactly, eh Dave?
