ClimateGate: Now India goes self-sufficient

In the light of the scandals surrounding the IPCC and it's dodgy dossier on 'man made global warming' turned 'climate change', one of the world's biggest nations has decided to set up it's own climate advice body.

India, to whom the claims about Himalayan glaciers were cause for concern, are launching their own 'Indian Network on Comprehensive Climate Change Assessment', The Telegraph reports.

The newspaper carries quotes from Indian Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh, who says: "There is a fine line between climate science and climate evangelism. I am for climate science."

While he states that India respects the IPCC, he also says the nation "cannot depend" on the IPCC after information in it's reports had been "misused".

The idea of a nation going self-sufficient for it's science probably has an awfully large number of positives - though the new Indian organisation will work with international partners.

Obviously, the idea of the UK following a similar path is unlikely. The current Government - on that fine line between science and evangelism - has made it's position clear with it's flurry of insults for anyone daring to ask any questions. 'Call Me Dave's Conservatives seem just as evangelical (from the front bench, not the backbenches) and the Liberal Democrats are... the Liberal Democrats.

The Climate Research Unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia, under intense global scrutiny at the heart of ClimateGate, is - of course - located here in Blighty.

So, the chances of us going native and self-sufficient are minimal bordering non-existent.

Unless we outsource to India.

Well, if it works for all industry and call centres...
