Greek crisis: all in this together?

This blogger was really struck, last night, by the words of 'Greek communist MP' Liana Kanelli. Speaking to Paul Mason for BBC2's Newsnight, she outlined her views on the current economic problems facing the historic nation.

Now, we wanted to make a saucy joke about offering Greece £250 for the services of the very lovely Sakis Rouvas. But we won't.

Instead, we'll stay serious. This blogger happily self-identifies as a 'small 'c' conservative libertarian'.

Now, a lot of what gets discussed in politics as far as you and I are concerned - man and woman on the street - seeks to keep us apart, locked into partisan politics and tribalism - the 'false-left-right paradigm'.

You've seen our Labour Party doing this a lot recently, trying to represent the Conservatives as Eton educated toffs out for the few instead of the many.

Put that aside for one moment. This blogger supports UKIP. You wouldn't have thought that a 'small 'c' conservative libertarian in the UK and a 'Communist MP' in Greece might have many political opinions in common.

So, we had to share the aired views of Liana Kanelli with you:
"Look at the disaster of Maastricht. They offered a paradise and the paradise of Maastricht does not exist. It's a hell for the working class, for the majority of the European people. It's not only Greeks - it's Portuguese; the so-called 'P.I.G.S.'.

Whoever gave anybody because of Maastricht the right to call me 'pig'? I'm not a pig! I'm a European Greek citizen, but Europe does not belong to me. It belongs to the big corporate money, it belongs to Governments that create the crisis... it's not my crisis, it's their crisis."

And so say taxpayers and people all over Europe, huh?

This blogger is totally opposed to the European Empire. Nothing to do with any PEOPLE of Europe. Indeed, we believe opposition to the European Empire unites the PEOPLE of Europe; we contend opposition to political and economic union unites, not divides us all. Any sovereign European nation that was allowed a vote said 'no' to the European Empire and, in the case of Ireland, was made to vote again until they gave the answer demanded of them.

The European Empire is not about the PEOPLE of Europe. It is about Government and money. It is anti-democratic and notoriously corrupt.
