Saturday Round-Up: The Candid Confessions of a Controversial Climate Alarmist and much more
The scientist at the centre of the ClimateGate scandal - Professor Phil Jones - is interviewed by the BBC.
In that interview, he concedes quite a few points including:
- The science on 'man made global warming' turned 'climate change' turned 'CO2 pollution' is NOT "settled".
- The Medieval Warming Period is real and did exist
- That there has been a cooling period in recent years
- That the warming in recent decades is of no significant difference to similar recent warming periods
- That some of his data was "not well organised"
If you interpret one of his answers very carefully, you will also note that there is no scientific evidence for claiming that any climate change is 'man made' - they have arrived at that theory on the basis of a lack of evidence of any other cause that they can identify.
Don't take this blogger's word for it - read the interview and accompanying article for yourself.
It's quite astounding, the candid nature of it all - though one has to read the articles slowly, line by line, word by word to pick out the series of concessions.
However, in the months long battle between 'climate alarmists' and 'climate sceptics', this is quite a watershed moment.
What's also quite astonishing is that it is the BBC - one of the media organisations most guilty of biased reporting on this issue - that finally gives way and does so in spectacular style by revealing such a series of conceded points.
And another astonishing thing - had it not been for Climate Gate, had it not been for the pressure of bloggers who have scrutinised some of the AGW theories, had it not been for the constant work of people like Lord Monckton, Ian Plimer, Melanie Philips and James Delingpole... would any of these truths ever have made it into the public domain?
How deep and how wide the deceit is the astonishing thing. And with so many conceded points, Ed Miliband should consider his position.
By no means should all of the blame for the climate scandal be laid at the door of Professor Phil Jones.
We have seen that the IPCC's report is a dodgy dossier which seems to rely heavily on inserts from organisations known for their political lobbying activities rather than for being scientific researchers.
Meanwhile, James Delingpole is still not happy over at the Telegraph. He is looking at the CVs of people on the panel of the 'independent' review of the ClimateGate scandal and suspecting that the investigation has been designed to produce a whitewash.
Read what he has to say and form your own opinions.

In other news, Conservative civil liberties and human rights hero David Davis is at the centre of a storm after accusing the British Government of acts on a par with "something the Gestapo got up to" over evidence in cases where torture has been alleged.
He is joined by Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg who is demanding to know whether torture allegations are indicative of collusion or a cover-up.
The Guardian has more detail on the row.
Don't know what everyone else thinks, but this blogger is simply astounded - in disbelief - that such a question mark about British conduct should ever be along these lines.
How did our once great nation come to this? Who is behind it all? Why?

The final story comes from the Daily Express. It reports how New Labour's newest and terrifying Stasi method of intimidating the public involves raiding our homes and checking our dustbins.
Seriously - that's not a made up 'attack Labour' thing - it's genuinely what's in the news.
The report even comes with a choice quote from the Shadow Minister for Local Government, Bob Neill, who says: "Sinister laws passed by the Government allow inspectors to enter your home and garden, inspect your bins and take away samples and then fine you for breaching minor rules. This Binquisition is another sign of how Labour don’t care about the privacy of law-abiding citizens and treat home owners like common criminals."
Whatever happened to 'An Englishman's home is his castle'..?
Did the politically correct Marxist conspiracy ban the principle as well as the description of nationality?
