Sunday Paper Review: 7th February 2010
The Sunday Telegraph has a report listing a whole new catalogue of questionable claims in the IPCC's dodgy dossier on 'man made global warming' turned 'climate change'. How many days in a row is it that things have been found, now? There are so many problems identified in today's Sunday Telegraph newspaper report alone that, by now, this blogger believes the entirety of the IPCC's reports are fit only for lighting a nice big bonfire. That should warm us up nicely against all this freezing cold 'global warming' we're still enduring.
Just to be balanced, there's also a story in the Independent on Sunday that claims ExxonMobil is funding think-tanks which support 'climate change deniers'. This blogger obviously thinks the whole 'man made global warming' turned 'climate change' thing is a scam, so if that qualifies us for a handout and Exxon Mobil want to send us a nice big juicy cheque, they can send it to P.O. Box...
Back onto the other side of the fence, and the Sunday Express suggests that the BBC is guilty of a "£8bn Eco-Bias". The figure cited is linked to the Beeb's pension fund. We'll not go into what the rest of the Sunday Express is saying. It's in the paper - where the allegation makes a front page splash - else click the link and read it for yourself.
Meanwhile, The Observer has a report which - if taken on board by 'Call Me Dave' - could see the Conservatives pull back from evangelism of 'man made global warming' turned 'climate change'. It states that a huge proportion of Conservatives do not support the party position on climate issues. As we discovered from a poll for the BBC yesterday, taking a more sceptical view on the topic would put the Conservatives back in line with majority public opinion...
Where to start with this week's Sunday Times? A nice selection of big stories. ClimateGate rumbles on and the newspaper's take on the latest is here. On an unrelated subject, one interesting story is that the French are supposedly having a pop at Cathy 'Baroness' Ashton - the European's Empire's equivalent of a Foreign Secretary. The Sunday Times suggests they believe her to be "incompetent" and "lazy". We've got an even better word to describe her... unelected.
Someone else who is unelected is former PM's wife Cherie Blair. The Mail on Sunday reports that there is discussion amongst senior Labour ranks of Cherie being given a peerage. Putting Cherie into the House of Lords sounds about right... most people in Labour's positions of power have not actually been elected, so what's one more?
Back to the French for our final story, and the News of the World reports that the Rothschilds are advising Gordon Brown to sell Dover to Calais. We're not entirely making it up. Quite how Gordon can sell Dover to the French when he gave the entire country - lock, stock and barrel - to Brussels is a mystery. We're now a nation of French ports, Spanish banks, Indian call-centres and American chocolate bars. That's New Labour's mission accomplished..
