The Tears Of A Brown..?

Now, don't get us wrong. Personal pain is just that - personal pain. No matter the politics, we could all have a bit of humanity where someone's genuine, heartfelt emotions are concerned.

Yes, we may hate people's politics and we may hate everything that they have done to our country, but they are still human.

Though, we have to confess that we thought it a cynical and tasteless bit of electioneering when we heard that Gordon Brown had broken down in tears on TV.

Then we had a bit of compassion and remembered that even Gordon is human, too.

And nobody would ever exploit something as tragic as a close personal bereavement for cynical election purposes.

Would they..?

But hang on a minute... or twenty-four hours anyway.

Not a day more passes and who should also roll onto the TV screens having a squish, squish moment over Tony Blair and the Iraq war..?

The King of Spin, Alastair Campbell.

Well, if we tried really hard not to be cynical and suspicious about 'The Tears Of A Brown' - and we did try to feel some compassion, honest - when Alastair Campbell does a follow up act within the same weekend, one can be forgiven for starting to think there's a concerted campaign of touchy-feely "look at me, I'm sensitive" electioneering going on.

Whatever and whoever next?

If you catch sight of Jacqui Smith in a nun's habit doing charitable works such as washing the feet of a leprosy sufferer, let us know.
