And just what do you know about democracy, Mr. Jack Straw..?

Jack Straw is having a big old rant about the Conservative Party's very sensible idea to reduce the number of MPs.

He clearly believes that his totalitarian Labour Party - which seems to do very well out of Scottish MPs being elected to Westminster and voting on laws which effect England - will be at a disadvantage from any reduction in the numbers of MP's.

He goes as far as accusing the Conservative Party of "outright gerrymandering".

Straw told the Hansard Society: "The apparently virtuous call to cut the cost of politics is actually camouflage for a dangerous, destructive and anti-democratic piece of gerrymandering. The Conservative Party proposes to cut the number of MPs by 10% without testing the will of the people in a referendum and without any proper effort to seek any kind of cross-party consensus."

Awww. Diddums.

Well, how about this, Mr. Jack Straw?

"The apparent benefits described to garner support for Britain's membership of the European Empire are actually barely camouflaged lies to hoodwink the people of a formerly sovereign nation being taken into a dangerous, destructive and anti-democratic piece of extreme-socialist, Marxist, communist and fascist inspired hell where the rights and liberties of the individual are eradicated whilst power is centralised in an increasingly small number of people. The Labour Party conned the British people over the Lisbon Treaty, backed by their abstaining yellow-bellied buddies in the Liberal Democrats without testing the will of the people in a referendum."

And, oh yes, Jack Straw... you voted for the Lisbon Treaty and voted to deny us a referendum, did you not?

Yes you did.

And, would our memory serve us well? Didn't page 84 of your party's 2005 manifesto say that we would have a referendum on the EU constitution (that changed it's name to 'Lisbon Treaty') - a promise that turned out to be an outrageous lie? Why, yes it did.*

Would you mind awfully therefore, old bean, if we pondered on whether you are - in fact - an outrageous hypocrite?

And what is the point of 646 MPs when most of our laws are made by Europe?

In fact, Mr. Straw, maybe you could tell us what it is your Government actually governs these days? Which policies are you allowed to enact without the European Empire's say so?

Oh, all those wonderful laws that restrict our freedoms and liberties? Because we cannot think of any other laws that Labour introduce - just stuff to eradicate individualism, free-thought and the human spirit.

Get ye out of office and out of our country - the democracy and sovereignty of which your diabolical political party so obviously despises.

Meanwhile, back to Pravda the BBC. If you look at their report, they dedicate lots and lots of space to Jack Straw and his accusations against the Conservative proposal.

Then, in a tiny little two line note at the end, they say: "The Liberal Democrats have also pledged to cut the number of MPs, ministers and government departments if they win the next election, which is widely expected on 6 May."

That Pravda the BBC mentioned it at all is quite amazing. We should be grateful that whoever wrote that article was able to sneak out a couple of sentences which showed Jack Straw up as being rather hysterical about the Tories while failing to notice the policies of the Lib Dems.

Meanwhile, Jack Straw... shut up, sit down.

*Oh, and we spotted another big lie in your party's 2005 manifesto on page 66. Just thought we'd mention it.
