Marta Andreasen leads UKIP bid to shut down funding for foreign police force based on British soil

Waiting to hear news on a vote taking place in the belly of the beast known as the EU.

The vote is on an amendment tabled by UKIP's Marta Andreasen who is seeking to stop the funding of the EU's FBI style training college based in Hampshire.

The move follows news that accountants refused to sign off on the accounts for the controversial facility.

Speaking to theparliament.com website, Andreasen said: "The college is supposed to assist with the fight against cross border crime. Instead all it seems to be able to teach is cross border fraud or incompetence."

The background story of the organisation's accounting question marks seems to have made very little impression on the corporate news machines - meaning that the British taxpayer is mostly in the dark about what is taking place on our national soil.

However, the tiny Get Hampshire news organisation does carry the story and should be praised for doing so.

Their report reveals that: "EU anti-fraud investigators were called in when discrepancies were first spotted, and a new report by a French MEP accuses staff of a failure to respond sufficiently to auditors’ conclusions last year that there had been widespread abuse of funding by CEPOL."

In our view, we couldn't care less how or why funding to this organisation is withdrawn.

Our view is that the only justifiable powers of authority on British soil are police constables as defined by British common law who have taken and adhere to their oath of office.

We do not now and will not ever recognise the legitimacy of any authority outside of those parameters - no matter which country they come from.

Anyway, this is excellent work by Marta Andreasen and UKIP - and is exactly the kind of thing that UKIP MEPs, a bizarre irony in many ways, should do more of (and somehow try to be seen doing more of) to demonstrate and justify why they choose to stand for election to the European Parliament.

Casting themselves as a spotlight, exposing what goes on, is a perfect role for UKIP MEPs.
