Go on... admit it... Jack & Vera's final reunion made you sob your eyes out, too!


In a break from political bitching...

If, like me, you were one of the many millions watching last night's Coronation Street, then you will have seen the final scenes of one of the soap's most loved characters - Jack Duckworth.

As he crossed through the Pearly Gates of that great soap character paradise, who better to take him there than his dear wife, Vera.

Jack and Vera Duckworth; William Tarmey and Elizabeth Dawn.

National treasures, we salute you.

And sometime around the end of next week, I expect to stop crying.

Oh well, at least I'm man enough to cry at such things.

And it was very, very beautiful.

Now, if Matt Monro's Softly As I Leave You doesn't make this week's top forty, I'll want to know why.
