'Student protesters' need a fatherly talking to in decorum after shaming their supposed cause
We thought that the scenes when things got smashed up at Millbank were in poor order as they demonstrated the political motivations were partisan rather than issue led.
And I'm not a supporter of smashing up things. To resort to violence is to have no argument.
The word 'no' is much more powerful than resorting to animalistic violence.
So, it may come as no surprise to know that I condemn the violence directed at people.
Obviously, the headline grabber is the smashing up of the car in which Prince Charles and his Rottweiler wife were travelling.
Now, make no mistake. I strongly despise both of those individuals for what they did to Diana, Princess of Wales and I will never forget or forgive them.
But I wish they would sod off to peaceful exile... I do not wish them any physical harm - no matter how much I dislike them personally.
The simple fact is that the violence that Charles and the Rottweiler encountered was violence directed at living human beings who were imposing no physical threat to those who meted out their aggressive outrage - and it is NOT acceptable.
Smashing things up in lieu of winning a debate is poor.
Putting the safety and physical well-being of human lives at jeopardy is just not on - not on any level.
Whoever the thugs concerned are, they should be dealt with.
Even those of us who espouse reverting to the principles of common law know a line has been crossed - harm, loss or injury.
In my view, the father of every single student minded to go on one of these protests now needs to sit down and give their sons and daughters a very strongly worded talking to about their future conduct.
Organise a million people to sit down and refuse to move from Whitehall... I'll probably join such a protest aimed at the European Empire and our relationship with it.
Want to go smashing things up and putting people's physical well-being in jeopardy? I'll join in the condemnation.
Before anyone responds with excuses of 'anarchists' hijacking the protest, if you are a genuine protester and see such people, push these types of folk gently towards the police line. Hand them back, as they are usually not all that they appear.
Finally, I ask again... why did we not see these scenes when Labour introduced the student tuition fees in the first place?
Which makes me conclude - quite comfortable - that this has little to do with student tuition fees (which are not paid upfront or even repaid until a certain income is achieved anyway)... and it has more to do with the totalitarian Labour Party now having not just a police state against the British people, but violent thugs running amok doing their dirty work, too.
Sorry, but that's how it appears to me.
