The Talking Clock is an opinion based, independently authored, small 'c' conservative, libertarian blog.
"The laws of England are the birthright of the people thereof; and all the kings and queens, who shall ascend the throne of this realm, ought to administer the government of the same according to the said laws; and all their officers and ministers ought to serve them respectively, according to the same."
Act of Settlement, 1700/01
"And I do declare that no foreign prince, person, prelate, state or potentate hath or ought to have any
jurisdiction, power, superiority, pre-eminence or authority, ecclesiastical or spiritual, within this realm."

Nein! o'Clock Gets Filibustered
Why, yes... we know it's rare that we give anyone in that den of traitors and conspirators any praise.
Even more rare is that we're praising them for being deliberately obstructive windbags!
Yet windbags have saved the day and, as a result, the dark and sinister plot to shift our clocks to Berlin time - and therefore bringing us in line with our EU masters - has been thwarted... for now.
They tell us it's all in the name of road safety, but we know what they're doing really.
A number of our politicians simply talked and talked and talked, though... until the Bill ran out of time to pass the House. Phew!.
Listen and listen good: time starts and ends at Greenwich. Always has, always will.
That said, we did like the somewhat audacious bid by Jacob Rees-Mogg who wanted the county of Somerset to have a time zone all of it's own, fifteen minutes behind GMT.
We like Somerset. Proper England, in the main.
We like Jacob Rees-Mogg. Not necessarily for his policies or his voting record but simply because he is a proper Parliamentarian; an individual with his own individuality openly expressed and - clearly - a great intellect behind the colourful persona, too. We like that.
More like Jacob Rees-Mogg and fewer like the dull, grey, lifeless, soulless party drones who hive on the rest of those green benches, please!
